I appeared on Bloomberg's "Balance of Power" with Joe Mathieu and Annmarie Hordern on Friday, September 22 to talk about the UAW strike and the Writers' Guild of America strike.
Just 30 minutes before this interview, President Joe Biden posted on X (Twitter) that he would visit a UAW picket line in Michigan on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, UAW President Shawn Fain invited the President --- and all the union's other supporters --- to join the picket line. I offered my explanation for the President's decision. I also discussed the state of the negotiations and what it would take to settle the strike. It's not just wages.
We turned to an analysis of the Writers Guild's negotiations with the Hollywood studios in light of news this week that the parties appear to be moving closer to an agreement to end what could soon become the longest Hollywood writers' strike ever.
